What are the Bundesagentur für Arbeit and the Bildungsgutschein ?
What is Bundesagentur für Arbeit ?
Wild Code School’s Web Development bootcamp (remote and on-campus) has been certified as further training by the German federal employment agency Bundesagentur für Arbeit, which is in charge of job seekers in Germany and is providing payment of unemployment benefits to them.
What is a Bildungsgutschein ?
With the Bildungsgutschein (German word for “educational voucher”) delivered by the Bundesagentur für Arbeit, anyone who is residing in Germany, registered as unemployed and seeking employment is eligible to receive it.
It means that they can apply for our remote or on-campus Web Development training and start learning to code for free (without paying themselves) — and all of that financed by the German government! Isn’t it beautiful?
Ready to join your new exciting web development training course ?
Our Berlin campus and remote campus offer a 5-month web developer training course where you’ll learn more about HTML and CSS, and specialize in the following programming language and framework: Javascript, React/NodeJS.
Which steps should you make to earn your Bildungsgutschein ?
Are you eligible for a Bildungsgutschein ?
If you are...
- Registered as residing in Germany
- Unemployed or soon to be unemployed
- Registered with Bundesagentur für Arbeit/JobCenter
… then, you are eligible to apply for a Bildungsgutschein. The kind of training (remote or on-campus) you choose is up to you.
Step 1: Contact Bundesagentur für Arbeit
After verifying if all these previous boxes are checked, the very first step is contacting the Agentur für Arbeit—or Jobcenter you have been assigned to—and getting an appointment for the first meeting/in-person consultation on the Bildungsgutschein application.
How does it go on from then ? You will be assigned a job agent/consultant during the whole process. Also be aware that a lot of the communication with your job agent may be via postal mail and email —so check these regularly to receive official invitations and notices.
Your job agent will talk with you through your job opportunities as well as your professional goals. The better prepared you are in your ideas, plans and information you can deliver on those, the better you can work together with your job agent on your future career plans.
You don’t live in Berlin but would rather join in one of our remote sessions ? It is exactly the same procedure then as explained above.
Step 2: Download our Jobcenter document package for your meeting
Before your first meeting, make sure to download our infopack and our brochure with all the information needed within it! Then, you’ll take it with you for the meeting.
Step 3: Prepare yourself for the meeting with Bundesagentur für Arbeit
One important thing is to come prepared to the meeting ! You should be able to explain your training plan, in which ways receiving a Bildungsgutschein would help improve your career plans, and so on...
Here are some question examples they could ask you:
How will the Bildungsgutschein benefit you?
- Which opportunities will it bring you once you’ve finished the training course?
- Why did you choose this training program and this specific provider?
- How would it boost your career?
- Explain your personal career plans and show your motivation!
Make sure you’ll support your application in the best way! If you have web developers in your circle of friends, get their advice, too. During the meeting, don’t forget to bring…
- Our infopack and our brochure—that will show your job agent/consultant all the information of the training course you’ve chosen
- Our Job Report 2022
- A copy of your up-to-date resume (CV) - if requested
- Your proof of registration in Germany
- Your ID card or passport
- Bonus: employment stats and figures about your future job
Put the odds in your favor, and don’t forget anything!
Step 4: Apply to our German coding bootcamp
Once you have been assigned a job agent and had your initial talk with them to confirm your eligibility for Bildungsgutschein, you can start the application process with us. It often helps to show how motivated you really are to get into coding!
How does the Wild Code School’s application process work?
- Register on our website, fill out a basic form and choose your preferred campus. Decide between in-person, blended or remote training and your preferred language.
- Interview with us to discuss your professional goals, reasons for joining, and motivations with a Wild Code School admissions manager.
- Complete a technical interview in which you’ll be asked to perform a tech challenge and get reviewed on whether you have the potential to become a web developer.
Our application process can be completed in 1.5 weeks and registrations are open up until 7 days before the start of the course. However, we really try to make everything possible. If you are on very short notice but have everything settled with your job agent and your Bildungsgutschein ready, we will be happy to assist you with completing the last steps of your coding adventure with us and see to finish the application process as soon as possible.
