Digital transformation and Covid-19: a greater need of IT professionals in the current market

Why is there an ever growing need of IT professionals within companies?

Today, we are living a unique reality in our modern history. Never has so much been done in so little time in terms of digital transformation in companies.

The emergence of Covid-19 has forced the general population to change their lifestyle habits. As a result, companies had to adapt and evolve in order to survive in the hostile terrain that is the digital world.

With this need for abrupt change, convergence from the physical to the digital, we see a demand as never before for IT professionals.

If the disparity between supply vs demand was bad for companies before Covid—because there were not enough professionals in the market—now this volume is getting higher and faster.

Medium and large companies live in a great battle, fighting for the best resources by any means. The human resources in these companies are increasingly equipped with technological means to "hunt" the best talents with endless promises of love.

Millions of Euros are being spent on talent acquisition software, so that companies can effectively be more agile and quicker in finding talent.

We see recruitment companies specializing and working exclusively in tech recruitment like Landing.Jobs, with various mentoring and talent acquisition programs.

The pandemic also comes with a different set of challenges, especially for the ones that have fewer resources, which end up being the most affected. As in many other areas, the health crisis is creating and increasing disparities between the wealthy individuals and countries, and the ones that don’t have the same access to resources.

At a European level, there is a clear difference in terms of the economical impact between more advanced economies in the Western and Northern Europe and the Eastern and South Europe.

Remote Tech Job Market in 2021, our dedicated Wild Talk

You can find out more about the remote tech scene by signing up to our event on the 20th of May: Wild Talk - Remote Tech Job Market in 2021, a roundtable discussion with Pedro Moura - CMO at Landing.Jobs, Emy Gilson, HR Talent acquisition at Odoo, and 2 Wild Code School alumni of the remote campus who now are working as web developers.

But when that tech talent runs out, what will these companies do?

Now, if that tech talent actually runs out, we can wonder:

  • What will the companies that need them the most do?
  • What channels should they exploit to secure enough human resources to keep the company's business healthy?

Today, we see a number of coding schools like Wild Code School that are dedicated to helping solve this problem by training new tech professionals in dedicated bootcamp programs.

Since 2014, Wild Code School has been training over 4,000 tech professionals (web developers, data analysts, product managers) across the 20+ campuses in Europe.

The pandemic accelerated the emergence of remote training programs

Indeed, the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the emergence of remote training programs, including those at Wild Code School, with 10 bootcamp programs that took place since the start of the pandemic, in the 2 remote campuses, in English and French.

Some of the most in-demand tech professionals today are web developers, which are still very much in need despite the fact that in the past years more and more new web developers have entered the job market, many of them after graduating from a coding bootcamp.

Remote working and learning: which are the stakes?

With the rapid changes in the way of work, more and more companies and employees have seen the advantages of remote work, from time and cost savings, to flexibility or employee happiness.,

But as anything in life, this also comes with disadvantages, such as having fewer networking opportunities, being harder to build team spirit and peer-to-peer connections, but also an increased competitiveness in the job market.

With remote working, companies can access talent from a broader geographical scope, sometimes even from all around the world. In order to better compete in these new conditions of the job market, employees will have to develop and improve their remote working skills.

Landing.Jobs and Wild Code School: a new partnership for the remote web developer course

Having complementary missions, Wild Code School is teaming up with Landing.Jobs to offer the next experience for the students attending the remote web developer course!

Part of this partnership, Wild Code School and Landing.Jobs will work alongside in different areas, such as: guest speakers, client projects, hackathons and most importantly on job placement, leveraging the experience and network of Landing.Jobs in recruitment and Wild Code School’s experience in training tech professionals.

In fact, Wild Code School has already been working together with Landing.Jobs on different events, including recruitment focused seminars, and placing some of the alumni in tech jobs.

The Full-Stack Web Development training program: what to expect?

The 5-month Full-Stack Web Development program is the first training program from Wild Code School. It's the most in-demand one, and also the first one to take place in a remote format.

During the training, students dive into the world of coding using the most up-to-date technologies, programming languages and libraries, such as: HTML5, CSS3 (Bootstrap, Material UI), Javascript ES6+, React, Redux, Node.js, Express, Databases (SQL, MySQL), REST API, JWT, Git / GitHub, Unix, Unix Terminal, Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Sprint Planning, User Stories)

The remote campus offers the same advantages as the in-person one: dedicated instructor, workshops, live coding, dojos, biweekly masterclasses with tech professionals in the industry, hackathons.

What’s more: during the 5-month training, the students develop multiple projects that they can include in their portfolios. For the last 2 months of the training, students work on a client project, a real-life project offered by a partner company of Wild Code School. So, at the end of the web developer remote training, these future tech specialists will be well adapted to the remote working environment, and will have developed essential skills to be better prepared for the future of work.
