This business intelligence course is based on extensive practice and designed to be intensive throughout the 5-month period, yet it is structured part-time. Thanks to the expertise of our instructors and flexible training format, you’ll quickly learn the basics of SQL, Python, and will be able to master other key BI and data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI for reporting. BI comprises the use of a wide range of tools and methods for collecting data and then analyzing it for report generation. Good data visualization reports and dashboards make data intelligible for the entire company, regardless of their expertise.
What is the role and potential obligations of a business intelligence analyst?
Data exploitation and utilization is becoming a central concern for many companies. Business intelligence (BI) provides a major competitive and strategic advantage for the firms that utilize it for decision making. The BI analyst position has become essential for the efficient and smooth running of any firm, and it enables managers to make data-driven decisions.
One frequent objective of a BI analyst is to automatically collect data, build reports and automate them. He or she will often create activity reports composed of dashboards and graphs based on data from a company's management software. Their role is to bring data logic to the decision-makers of a company to establish a strategy to help the company progress. His/her key skills are business understanding, and technical skills on BI tools and databases (SQL in particular).
BI analysts will often be called to build automated reports and collect data. He or she may create activity reports with graphs and other data through the use of their company’s preferred data management software. Their role is often to provide a data-driven basis for decision makers in the company to help it progress overall.
The business analyst function advises managers during major changes that require data for decision making. For each solution that may be considered, the analyst will incorporate the vision from upper management, strategic and operational needs, external and internal constraints, and data insights to help guide management toward the most favorable solution.
What are the skills needed to become a business intelligence analyst?
Data skills are among the most in demand, just ahead of development skills and software design skills, according to the Future of Jobs Report 2020 study conducted for the World Economic Forum.
You need to master decision support tools, statistical methodologies, and data analysis techniques while being highly organized and rigorous! Our training program offers you the opportunity to learn these skills in 5 months on a part-time and distance learning basis while continuing to work.
How to register for the business intelligence course?
Our training is open to all adults without prerequisite or diploma (you can integrate the web developer training without a high school diploma for example). There is no typical profile at Wild Code School. Our students are between 18 and 58 years old and are professionals in transition or wishing to develop new skills or upskill, job seekers, young graduates, entrepreneurs... Above all, we are looking for a state of mind characterized by the desire to succeed, creativity to find solutions and the ability to work in a team.
To join Wild Code School, all you have to do is validate our 3-step application process:
Registration on our website: you will have to fill in a form and choose the course and the campus of your choice. Our training courses take place on campus or remotely. If you want to join a remote training course, you just have to select the "Remote" campus in the language of your choice.
Motivational interview: you will discuss your professional project and your motivation to join Wild Code School with an admissions manager.
Technical interview: you will present your tech challenge (an exercise to be completed after the motivational interview) and discuss with an instructor whether you have the potential to become a tech specialist.
The application process can be completed in 1 week and registrations are open until 7 days before the start of the course.
Where can I learn business intelligence? Can I do the business intelligence training remotely?
Of course! For the moment, our training is only available remotely, allowing you to take the course from your home, wherever you live. Distance learning does not mean learning alone!
Every day, you will meet up with your instructor and your class of other students who are also learning from home. To ensure that your distance learning is performed in optimal conditions, we have professional tools (educational platform, video, chat) to enable you to collaborate effectively with your class. During your training, you can of course visit your nearest campus to attend events and meet other Wilders.
The program of the business intelligence course and data visualization
What is the course syllabus? What business intelligence tools will I master at the end of the training?
This course has been designed by a team of expert business intelligence instructors. You’ll acquire all the foundational skills you need for this field in 5 months, part time.
You will also participate in several different exercises to refine and increase your skills which will include collecting data using SQL, building, automating and reporting data using tools such as Power BI and Tableau, and learning how to code in Python.
You’ll build 4 key blocks of business intelligence skills:
- Collect data, perform a query on a database with SQl and NoSQL, use APIs, automate content collection using scraping, interpret the JSON format, perform geocoding, understand the challenges of RGPD.
- Process data, use Python algorithms and object-oriented programing, use NumPy matrices and data frames or data warehouse (Pandas), process outliers and missing values, “clean” your code or data.
- Present data, produce interactive and dynamic data visualizations (Plotly and Bokeh), create dashboards and graphs using tools such as Tableau, PowerBI or Folium.
- Become a business intelligence tech professional by explaining data for the rest of the company, communicate using statistical reports, create a professional portfolio, improve your online presence.

What is the schedule for part-time training? Can I take the course while continuing to work?
Yes, you can complete the entire course while working a full-time job. You’ll have the option between evening or daytime classes, and you’ll have required dedicated time each week for independent work.
Evening classes: every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Daytime classes: every other Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Independent work: approximately 6 hours per week minimum, to be distributed as you wish.
You’ll also take part in two intensive “bootcamp” weeks (during the start and the middle of the course) with classes from Monday through Thursday 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm as well as on Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Will I be assisted in my professional goals at the end of my training?
Yes of course! Our team will help you develop your network, participate in hackathons, or events organized by our school. You will have numerous opportunities to meet with alumni and some of our over 1,000 partner companies throughout your training.
We will help you develop key soft skills that will improve your employability including learning how to learn, working collaboratively with others, and working remotely.
You’ll also get individual coaching, you’ll have opportunities to participate in career workshops, receive feedback on your resume/CV, LinkedIn tips, mock interviews, and individual meetings throughout the program.
What is the job placement rate of your students in the business intelligence program?

How much does a business intelligence analyst earn?
The gross annual salary of a junior BI analyst in Europe varies from one country to another. It will be generally in the range of 35K€ to 45K€ in Germany or France and in the range of 25K€ to 35K€ in Spain or Portugal. This salary can easily double after 3-4 years of experience and as you prove yourself. You can easily check the average salary through the Glassdoor simulator.
What positions can I apply for after the business intelligence analyst training?
After your training is completed you will be eligible for BI intelligence or analyst positions for a range of different types of companies including startups, SMEs, and large corporations. You can work as a freelancer or contractor as well. You may be recruited by sectors such as banking, finance, ecommerce, retail, government or many others that require analysts due to large volumes of data.
